Clapton Pond

‘Clapton Pond’ 2012, oil on canvas, 101 x 76 cm. The painting is based on a drawing made on location at Clapton Pond, There are a number of spectacular willow trees in the small park that runs for 100 metres along the northern part of Lower Clapton Road, in recent years the park has been renovated and is partly maintained by a trust, which recruits volunteers to help do the horticultural work. As in all parks in London the people who come and go are a mixture of people taking a quick break from work, drivers swap over buses behind the park, mothers bring their children in to feed the ducks and the occasional individual or small group sit and drink from a can in a brown paper bag.
