In the Olympic Park

A painting about being in the Olympic Park in London.

Some people have been lucky to be in the Olympic Park before the Games start, there must be a sense of newness and excitement to be there. I have chosen to depict a young person in the Olympic park, because the Olympic development has had a huge impact on the area, however social realities on the streets are often disconnected from the ‘Olympic Gold Dust‘. The character is in part inspired by my knowledge of the Teenage Parent Programme in Tower Hamlets, the background is based on a drawing I made of the park from a tower block over looking the eastern edge.
